It's funny how time changes everything and nothing.
Old pictures can conjure up forgotten memories in an instant, transforming time and making your mind play tricks on you, the synapses recreating feelings that manifest themselves in your physiology.
I wrote this today, after seeing some old pictures of an ex-girlfriend.
I'm not sure what to call it, but perhaps it doesn't need a name...
I said hey, aren’t you that girl I used to love?
All the music can’t drown out the sound of your smile.
It hits like a ton of heart shaped bricks,
With holes in, where my soul should be.
Death From Above
Floods like African plains.
Into the tunnels, where my veins should be.
Your memories,
Developed; frozen flowers.
Years don’t equal hours pass within.
Reverse heroin.
Filling with a licorice pain.
Just a tang left in my fingertips,
reaching to touch the sugarpane of your face,
frosted eyes look back at me with tears of what was and could have been
blinked away
as you turn
to him.
A ruby-lipped Tom’s Diner kiss.
My friend…
Love is a funny thing,
My friend.
